2. Journal #7: Choose Your Own Topic. Write about anything you want, it just needs to be 1/2 to 1 page.

Homework due on Wednesday, February 20

1. Read Chapter 11 pages 165-168, answering the questions on page 168. These can be handwritten, but will be turned in at the first of class.
2. Journal Entry #6: State of the Union Address. Click HERE to go to a text version of the address. You will need to pick out one issue that the President talked about and support why either you agree or disagree.
3. First draft of your Narrative Essay, "Why are you here in college today?" You will need to bring this to class on Wednesday because we will be doing peer review. You will receive points for this.

Upcoming Extra Credit Opportunities

1. Pizza & Politics on Wednesday, February 13 at 12pm in the Student Event Center at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus
The political action group Education First will be here to train students how to be more involved in the legislative process. 
You will need to write up a 1 page summary of the event, covering things that were discussed and how you can be more involved.
2. Shall We Dance on Wednesday, February 13 from 6-8pm in the Student Event Center at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus
Professional dance instructors will be coming and teaching. You will need to participate.
You will need to write up a 1 page summary of the event, describing the dances that were taught and giving a brief history of those dances.
3. The Black Student Union presents Dance Across the Ages on Friday, February 15 from        7-9pm in the Student Event Center at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus
Students will be showcasing African American dances such as hip-hop and African.
You will need to write up a page summary of the event talking about the dances performed and discussing the meaning and history behind the dances.

1. Final Draft of your Descriptive Picture Essay. Must be at minimum half of a page, no more than a page, double spaced, with a title. Please staple your picture and peer review paper to the essay. Please do not put the essay and picture on the same piece of paper. This will be handed in at the beginning of class.

3. Journal #4: Write about "A Moment That Changed Your Life"
