1. Read Chapter 13, pages 199-200, and the story "Shrouded in Contradiction" on pages 205-207. You will need to answer questions 1-5 on page 207 and be ready to hand them in at the beginning of class on Wednesday.

1. Your Narrative Essay is due at the beginning of class. I will not accept late assignments. Please refer to early post on structure and grading guidelines for your paper.

1. You MUST bring your rough draft for your Narrative Essay. We will be going over them in class and you will receive credit for bringing them.

2nd Essay Assignment

Title: Why Are You At SLCC

Purpose: This is a personal narrative essay. You will need to tell your story of how you ended up pursuing a higher education at SLCC. Is their a person that inspired you? Introduce us to them. Tell us the experience you had with them. Was their a moment that changed your perception? Tell us about it. Their are so many questions that can be asked, but the point is you need to share your story. Refer to chapters 10 and 11 for examples and help.

Requirements:

1) Must be at least 2 pages long

2) Needs to be double spaced

3) Use Times New Roman 12 point font

4) Must put your Name, Date, and Class in the top left or right hand corner of the paper

5) Title must be centered at the top of the page, no bigger than 16 point font

Grading:

You will be graded on the length of the paper, organization, strength of your opening and closing paragraphs, and your thesis statement. You will also need to have 4 students in class review your paper, you will receive points for this.

1. Journal Assignment: What does it mean to 'Sit in the Front Row of Your Life'?

2. You NEED to bring in your rough draft of your 2nd Essay assignment. You will be receiving credit for your rough draft. I will posting the assignment and guidelines to follow.

Homework due for class on 3/5/12

I have to apologize for not being in class, I was out of town. Here is what you need to make sure is done by Monday:

1. Journal Assignment: Write AT LEAST half of a page on "What you want to accomplish by getting a college degree?"

2. Please bring your rough draft of your second essay to work on in class.

3. If you didn't read Chapter 11 last week, make sure you have read it before class on Monday.
