1. Read chapter 10, pages 145-151, answering question number two on page 151 about the story "Mzee Owitti".  Please write a paragraph in response (must be typed).
2. Journal #5: Write about an experience that has influenced the person you are today (Only needs to be 1/2 page to 1 page)

Final draft of your Descriptive Picture Essay. This must be handed in at the beginning of class.
Paper Requirements: Paper must be typed, a minimum of a half page and no longer than a page. Paper should be double spaced, Times New Roman 12 point font. Your name, class, and date should be located in the top right hand corner (do not double space this), with the title centered at the top of the page.

1. Read Chapters 5, 6, and 7
2. Work on and bring in your 2nd draft of your Descriptive Picture Essay. We will be doing peer review and you will receive points for this. YOUR FINAL PAPER IS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS ON 9/24.
3. Journal Assignment: Choose an article from the SLCC Globe Newspaper and either write a 1/2-1 page summary or response on that article.

1. Write your rough draft (this is different from your freewriting) for your description essay. Organize your thoughts from your freewriting exercise. Look at your punctuation, spelling, and structure of your paper. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING THIS AND YOUR PICTURE TO CLASS ON WEDNESDAY.
2. Read Chapter 4

1. Read Chapter 3 from the text book
2. Find the picture that you will be writing your essay on
3. Journal #3: Freewrite for at least 20 minutes, you must have at least one page, on describing the picture you have chosen to write your essay on. Let your thoughts flow on to the page. Don't worry about structure, grammar, punctuation. Just focus on getting your thoughts onto the page.
